Establishing a Multidisciplinary Oncology Center
The Leona M. and Harry B. Helmsley Charitable Trust will donate $8.8 Million to establish a Multidisciplinary Oncology Center at Shamir Medical Center.
The innovative center will provide outstanding oncological care and is set to become a part of Shamir Medical Center’s core activity. “I thank the Helmsley Charitable Trust for its tremendous support,” said Dr. Osnat Levtzion Korach, Director General of Shamir Medical Center. “With the significant growth of the population around us and the massive housing and development plans for the area, we are poised to become Israel’s largest medical center. The new Multidisciplinary Oncology Center is part of our vision and extensive development plans.”
“Helmsley’s Israel Program seeks to improve access to better healthcare for all Israelis, including those who live in the periphery,” said Sandor Frankel, a Trustee of the Helmsley Charitable Trust. “The grant will provide patients access to more types of state-of-the-art care in a single facility. The ability to receive a coordinated treatment plan under one roof will reduce the physical and emotional stress experienced by cancer patients and their families.”
