Facelift, Neck Lift, Brow Lift, and Eyelid Surgery
Facelift, neck lift, brow lift, and eyelid surgery are surgical procedures regularly performed at the Department of Plastic Surgery at the Shamir Medical Center (Assaf Harofeh).
What Is a Facelift and Neck Lift?
The goal of a facelift is to elevate and tighten the lower portion of the face and neck. The ideal candidate for a facelift is a woman in her 50s or 60s whose facial and neck skin has begun to sag but remains elastic and supple. Patients with well-defined facial bone structure, especially a prominent chin, tend to achieve excellent results. Most patients are in their 60s or 70s, though older individuals can also benefit from the procedure. It is important to emphasize that the goal of surgery is not to alter the patient’s overall appearance or general health.
What procedures can be performed in Facial and Neck surgery?
- Sagging neck skin tightening and lifting
- Refining and contouring a heavy neck
- Partial facial skin tightening
- Redefining the jawline and softening the nasolabial folds (the crease between the nose and mouth corners)
Facelift surgery is typically performed under general anesthesia, but may also be performed with local anesthesia and sedation. The procedure usually lasts three to four hours. Before the operation, the plastic surgeon evaluates facial structure, hairline, skin quality, degree of sagging, wrinkles, and underlying tissues. During the preoperative consultation, the surgeon tailors the surgical plan to the patient’s unique needs and sets realistic expectations.
