Foundation Laying Stone Ceremony for the New National Center of Forensic Medicine

A ceremony of laying the foundation stone for Israel’s new National Center of Forensic Medicine facility on the Shamir Medical Center campus was held earlier this month. For the first time since its foundation, the center will move into a new facility, designed to best accommodate the state’s overall requirements in terms of forensic investigation. The transition is made as part of a strategic government plan to bolster the National Center of Forensic Medicine, in conjunction with the transformation of Shamir Medical Center into Israel’s largest medical facility over the next decade.

The Ministry of Health has conducted extensive research work in recent years with a view to improve the National Center of Forensic Medicine, surveying such aspects as the Institute’s personnel, equipment and facilities. Phase 1 of this project has an estimated cost of NIS 150 million, and should be completed within three years.
