Innovative Gastroenterology Operation System
For the First Time in Israel: An Innovative System Now Operational at the Gastroenterology Institute
At the beginning of June, a unique endoscopic surgical procedure was performed at Shamir Medical Center’s The Gonczarowski Family Gastroenterology Institute, headed by Prof. Haim Shirin. The operation removed a lesion suspected as being malignant, using state-of-the-art equipment specially brought from England.
Dr. Sergey Vasco, a senior endoscopist at the Institute, who specialized in advanced endoscopic resections for the treatment of cancerous and pre-cancerous lesions in the gastrointestinal tract in Sydney, Australia, explains: “We introduced an innovative instrumentation system, which enables us, for the first time in Israel, to expand the treatment options of lesions, which, in the not-so-distant-past, were treated through surgery. The new device from Creo Medical is based on a unique platform that differs from the one currently used in Israel, and which provides both enhanced safety and reduced risk of complications.”
The manufacturing company’s representatives arrived from the UK to provide training for the Institute for Gastroenterology and Liver Diseases’ team, along with additional physicians from Israel’s leading hospitals, who came to learn about the benefits of the innovative system.
