International Support for Shamir Medical Center

Within hours of the October 7 attack on Israel, the Jewish Federations of North America together with the Jewish Agency for Israel, the Joint, and many other organizations in the United States, mobilized to offer swift and generous aid to any Israelis in need of help.

This remarkable effort included the provision of food supplies, clothing, housing, financial aid, and lessons for evacuees. Medical aid and trauma care were offered through the purchase of medical equipment, support of mental health organizations, support of dedicated service centers, the training of thousands of caretakers, and support for emergency teams, first respondents, lone soldiers, families, and patients dealing with loss, injury, or the kidnapping of their loved ones.

These organizations donated a total of $46.2 million, which were used to purchase medical supplies, train 19,000 medical and mental health personnel, and offer trauma care to 49,000 Israelis.

Since the beginning of the war, Shamir Medical Center has received numerous delegations offering their solidarity and support from all across the United States: Los Angeles, Memphis Tennessee, Boston, JCC New York, New Jersey, and San Diego.

The JCC Delegation

We offer special thanks to the Jewish Federations of North America and to UJA Federation New York, who stood by our side during these difficult times. We are profoundly grateful for their invaluable help and support of our work, which has saved many lives.
