The “Timeless” Fund for life-saving equipment – purchased thanks to you!

One of our hospital’s greatest challenges is providing an immediate response to medical needs arising from the field. Sometimes, this means immediate mobilization to acquire life-saving equipment.

This is why we established the Timeless Fund – an ad hoc fund for the purchase of such equipment. The fund enables the management to respond quickly in emergency situations requiring an immediate budget for a purchase.

We reached out to you during the year, and received an overwhelming response. Thanks to your generosity, we purchased a fibroscan system for liver scanning, a Robert da Vinci robot for endoscopic surgical procedures, and equipment for performing HoLEP surgery for prostate treatment.

We are grateful to you for your truly life-saving contributions. Your friendship and enlistment are moving and not taken for granted!

If you would like to support this important cause this year, we have added a link to make a secure donation for your convenience.

More about the purchased equipment...

The Fibroscan system is an innovative device that enables a comprehensive and complete liver scan – which provides an up-to-date picture of the liver’s condition. The system almost fully eliminates the need for liver biopsies, saves the patient’s and doctor’s valuable time, days of hospitalization, and – most importantly – reduces the chances of complications and infections.

The da Vinci robot is a sophisticated system that performs minimally invasive surgeries without human contact. The system enables performing minimally invasive procedures at top precision, thus eliminating in many cases the need for open surgery, which is often followed by intense and prolonged pain, and requires a much longer recovery period. The robot surgery has several distinct advantages: Maximum stability and precision, ranges of motion that are several times larger than those of the human hand, and the absence of 'human limitations', i.e., fatigue, lack of concentration, etc. For the patient, this clearly means that the procedure will be faster, more accurate, and less painful.

Equipment for the HoLEP surgical procedure for patients suffering from benign prostate enlargement: Dr. Ehud Gnessin, a Senior Urology Specialist at Shamir Medical Center, introduced the HoLEP method to Israel in 2011, and has since then performed over 1,000 surgeries in Israel and the US. Today, Dr. Gnessin is the leading surgeon in this surgical method in Israel.
